Deep Tissue Massage
Discover the healing power of a deep tissue massage at a Rocky Mountain retreat near Fernie, B.C.
Our modern lifestyles often involve extended periods of sitting, repetitive motions, and high levels of stress—leading to chronic muscular tightness, knots, and pain. Unlike other forms of massage, deep tissue massage specifically targets the deeper layers of muscle and fascia, using focused pressure and slow strokes to release tension and alleviate pain. It can effectively break down adhesions, improve blood flow, promote better posture, and increase range of motion. By addressing the root causes of muscle discomfort, deep tissue massage offers a pathway to recovery, relaxation, and enhanced well-being.
Come to Broken Wing Massage Retreat and you will find a holistic approach to revitalizing both the body and mind. Whether seeking relief from chronic pain or simply desiring a much-needed escape from the pressures of daily life, a deep tissue massage can be a transformative experience, leaving you feeling renewed, restored, and ready to take on the world.

Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscles, tendons, and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It involves the application of firm pressure and slow, deliberate strokes to target areas of chronic tension, knots, and adhesions within the muscles.
During your massage, a trained therapist may use their fingers, hands, elbows, or forearms to apply direct pressure and work on specific muscle groups. They may also employ other techniques to break down adhesions and release muscle tension.
The goal of deep tissue massage is to alleviate pain, improve mobility, and promote mental wellness. It can help in the management of chronic conditions such as back pain, neck and shoulder tension, sports injuries, and repetitive strain injuries. Deep tissue massage is often sought by individuals who prefer a more intense massage experience and those looking to address deeper layers of muscle tension and discomfort. It is personalized to the client's specific needs.

Deep tissue massage offers numerous benefits for the body and mind. Here are some key advantages:
Pain relief: Deep tissue massage targets chronic muscle tension and can provide significant relief from pain caused by injuries, overuse, or underlying medical conditions. It helps to break down scar tissue and reduce inflammation, alleviating discomfort and promoting faster healing.
Improved flexibility and range of motion: By releasing tension in muscles and connective tissues, deep tissue massage enhances flexibility and increases the range of motion. This can be particularly beneficial for athletes, individuals recovering from injuries, or those with restricted mobility.
Stress and anxiety reduction: Deep tissue massage can promote the release of serotonin and oxytocin, which are neurotransmitters associated with feelings of well-being and relaxation.
Enhanced posture: Persistent muscle tension can lead to poor posture. Deep tissue massage works to realign and release tension in the muscles, aiding in restoring proper posture.
Improved blood circulation: The firm pressure applied during deep tissue massage can stimulate blood flow, enhancing circulation throughout the body. Improved circulation delivers fresh oxygen and nutrients to tissues, facilitating the removal of waste products and toxins.
Injury prevention: Regular deep tissue massage can help prevent injuries by reducing muscle tension and improving flexibility. It prepares the muscles and soft tissues for physical activity, reducing the risk of strains, sprains, and other common injuries.
Mental well-being: Deep tissue massage can induce a sense of profound mental well-being. It can help reduce symptoms of depression and enhance sleep quality, leading to improved mental health.
It's important to note that deep tissue massage may cause temporary soreness or discomfort, but the long-term benefits make it a valuable therapy for individuals seeking relief.

My need for knowledge is one aspect that helps me succeed. I read books, I do podcasts, and I love learning about how others were inspired, what their experiences were, how they overcame challenges. I literally learn from humans and I soak it up.
Second, I love meeting different personalities and I try to see each person as an individual and cater to their needs. For example, are they a rule-following person? Do they like schedules? Are they more of a creative mind? I never treat people the same every time. I don't even like taking intake forms because I want that person to talk to me—I want to see how they talk and how they feel and how they move.
The third skill that benefits Broken Wing? Perhaps my ability to learn from myself and my own experiences. A lot of times the way that I come up with treatments or strategies is by having already navigated the challenges firsthand.
I might think “I have had that pain.” Then I will take that pain and I will work at it until I figure it out, and then I can pass that on to my clients. Even if it’s not muscle and bone pain, if I have depression at a time of my life or I'm really down, I like to learn from that. If I have a joyous time in my life, why am I so happy right now?
-
What can I offer clients? Just me and a bucket full of hope. Let's work together. Let's try and create a plan for you, and let's do our utmost to get you past this. I truly believe that we can overcome anything. Our bodies all work the same way, it is literally a machine of healing and repair, and I believe if you add the right elements you can get to a place of health and balance.
