What Broken Wing Massage clients say about Heidi Klima’s treatments

I love to be the “Last Resort.” Sometimes I wish it were different, and I could help with the first twinge of pain.

The area I love to thrive in is the challenge of acute flare-ups or chronic pain that no one else has been able to manage or piece together. Everything from plantar fasciitis to shoulder pain, and everything in between comes into my treatment room.

The most frightening part of pain is the unknown. I aim to educate and explain pain, that nagging “knot” between the shoulder blades, neck pain, and lower back pain. There is no puzzle I do not enjoy explaining and trying to solve concerning the body.

What I don’t want you to read here is that I can solve everyone’s pain. No, I am a collaborator; I look at it as teamwork. It takes a lot of constant work and dedication to heal from chronic muscle imbalances or injuries. I fail at times. I am not what a person needs at other times, but there is one thing that you can count on: I will give it my all, inspiring you to persevere and motivating you to get to where you need to be.

“I went from being bedridden for weeks to eating with my family, washing my hair and getting dressed after only a few treatments”

Being bedridden for three weeks was a situation I never thought I would find myself in. I had never experienced pain like this before in my life. I was on so many painkillers that I was non-functional. I needed assistance to use the washroom, returning to bed with tears because the pain was so intense. The colour drained from my face, and my husband had to care for me fully. He was going through his health issues, and the guilt was so overwhelming.

I was stuck.

Through a series of events, my husband called Heidi, and through their conversation, she learned of my dire situation. She threw her table in her car and drove 5 hours to come and give me some treatments right here in my home.

The program was intense, with back-to-back massage treatments lasting 90 minutes each.

She just kept talking to me, reassuring me, and giving me hope that I would get better. She worked on the intense muscle imbalances in my body. It was painful at times, but by the end of the first day, I sat at my kitchen table and ate supper with my family for the first time in weeks. I could not believe it. By the next day, I could stand long enough to wash my hair and get dressed.

Her dedication and commitment to my healing journey made me feel confident and secure in her care.

I receive regular massages, but she is a unique therapist who combines techniques and strategies to rebalance the body.

She loves to educate and talk you through the pain, helping you understand what is happening and why and giving you hope when you feel like there is none. Her personalized and educational approach made me feel understood and valued, significantly contributing to my healing process.

“I thought I had to live with my shoulder pain, but with regular treatments from Heidi I’m able to garden and play instruments again.”

I first began seeing Heidi for a shoulder I injured 20 years prior. It constantly gave me trouble, and it was just something I learned to live with. During the very first appointment with Heidi, she dove right into the complex system of the shoulder, how it works, and why it was constantly giving me pain.

I had never experienced a treatment like that. She not only wanted to massage my shoulder to relieve it, but I felt her strong desire to help me heal and give me relief during the treatment and to understand my muscular system and my body. She opened a way for me to understand massage therapy in a different light.

Since that day, my partner and I have received regular treatments, and we are still grateful for her energy and openness to stay curious about our pain and to help navigate healing, whether we are gardening or playing our instruments. Her treatments have truly transformed our lives.

“My ear is now pain-free thanks to Heidi; she helped when doctors couldn’t”

I came to Canada from Israel to get help from my doctor to solve a problem with pain in my ear. I was on twice daily doses of painkillers, and the doctors in Israel could not figure out the issue. I flew to Canada to see the top Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor. After multiple doctor trips, they concluded there was nothing wrong with my ear. I was devastated. I had come all this way, and there was no answer.

One day, my friend, who got regular massage treatments from Heidi, suggested seeing her; what did I have to lose? So, we arranged to go to her clinic that afternoon for my first treatment. She wasn’t sure what she could do for the inner ear, but she used intuition and her knowledge of the muscles surrounding the ear to relieve me. She had an intense program of two massages a week for 90 minutes. The first treatment was an unbelievable experience. I could only describe the popping sounds in my ear as the sound of pouring milk into a bowl of Rice Krispies.

After four treatments, I only had a faint whisper of pain in my ear when I went over a mountain pass while I was on a trip through the mountains. It was gone. If you had told me on the plane ride to Canada that massage would cure my ear, I would have never believed it. The relief and comfort I felt were beyond words, and it gave me hope that I could finally live pain-free.

Heidi’s treatments are open and curious. She is never afraid of a challenge, and I am so grateful she took the time to figure out my pain.

“Thanks to Heidi’s empathetic approach, I found relief and learned how to deal with PTSD”

I came to Heidi not for Chronic Muscle Pain per se, but I deal with PTSD. My body was in constant tension; I could not get my muscles to let go and feel relaxed. I wanted to try massage to see if I could change the narrative with my body. To make it feel safe again.

As time passed, I could feel a slight change in my body. It took a lot of work, but we made progress with my unique situation.

I am grateful that we were able to co-heal together. I was able to communicate my needs, and she was willing to take the time to understand them and tailor her treatments to fit my circumstances.

My life is constantly in ebb and flow, and it is comforting to know she is always there.
